Reiki FAQ
What is Reiki and how does it work?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that promotes relaxation and stress reduction. Practitioners use their hands to balance energy in the client’s body and to support the body’s natural healing abilities. It works on the principle that energy blockages can cause physical or emotional discomfort, and Reiki helps clear these blockages to restore balance.
What are the benefits of Reiki?
Reiki can help with stress reduction, relaxation, and emotional well-being. Many people report relief from anxiety, improved sleep, pain reduction, and an overall sense of peace. While it’s not a replacement for medical treatment, Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy to enhance healing and well-being.
What can I expect during a Reiki session?
A typical Reiki session here at Me in the Meantime lasts about 60 minutes. You remain fully clothed while lying on a massage table. The practitioner starts by playing sound bowls to bring the body into a relaxed state before the Reiki begins. The practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above different parts of your body. You may feel warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation. Some people even experience emotional releases during the session.
Is Reiki safe? Are there any side effects?
Yes, Reiki is completely safe and non-invasive. There are no known negative side effects. Some people may experience temporary emotional release, mild dizziness, or fatigue as energy shifts occur, but these effects usually pass quickly.
Sound Bath FAQ
What is sound and vibrational therapy, and how does it work?
Sound and vibrational therapy is based on scientific principles that all matter, and most importantly, the cells in your body, vibrate to a precise frequency when healthy and to a dissonant frequency when in dis-ease. Specifically tuned frequencies & instruments are used to clear stresses and energetic blockages. The vibrations interact with the body’s cells and energy fields, helping to release emotional stagnation, tension and restore harmony in the body.
What are the benefits of sound and vibrational therapy?
This therapy is known to reduce stress, improve sleep, enhance focus, relieve pain, and support emotional well-being. It can also help with anxiety, depression, and energetic blockages by encouraging deep relaxation and activating the body’s self-healing mechanisms.
What can I expect during a sound & vibrational session?
You will remain clothed for the session and will lay down on a massage table. The practitioner will begin the session by playing crystal singing bowls to bring the body into a state of relaxation. Therapeutic Himalayan bowls are placed on the body to introduce vibration directly into the body. Other Instruments like drums and tuning forks may also be used over the body.
Is sound and vibrational therapy scientifically proven?
Studies have shown that sound and vibrational therapy can have significant and positive effects on the nervous system, lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels, and promote a meditative state.
Can anyone benefit from sound and vibrational therapy?
Yes, most people can benefit from this therapy. However, individuals with auditory seizures or pacemakers should avoid sound & vibrational therapy as it may trigger their conditions. Those with tinnitus should only use on-the-body vibration and avoid the sound portion. Those with metal implants should not receive vibration directly on those areas. Pregnant women should wait until the third trimester.
